• Shelley explores ideas surrounding the age of enlightenment and galvanism in a cautionary way - believing that this hubristic application of knowledge will lead to downfall.
• This is reflected within the narrative of Frankenstein as we slowly see as he is plagued by his mistakes and passes away, similarly this is referenced through the title of the novel “Frankenstein; the modern prometheus”. It references the Greek titan who gave light (symbolic of knowledge) to the world and he eventually gets tortured and punished for his actions
