- Covers 27 communes
- Exclusively Chenin Blanc
- Schist soils
- Qaurts de Chaume & Bonnezaeux are within but have their own appellations
What are the sweetness levels for Vouvray wine?
- Sec (Dry): Less than 8 grams residual sugar g/L
- Tendre or Sec-Tendre (Off-dry): Roughly 8-12 residual sugar g/L
- Demi-Sec (Medium Dry/Slightly Sweet/Sweet): With 12-30 residual sugar g/L
- Moelleux (Very Sweet): Typically 35-45 residual sugar g/L
- Liquoreux (Lusciously Sweet): > 100 g/L
What is ‘Pineau de la Loire’?
Chenin Blanc. Translates to the Little Pine of the Loire
What is Petillant
- Slightly bubble or frothy Vouvray. If made with ancient method, they can be called Petillant Naturelle or ‘Pet-nat’ for short
