The classification system of Bordeaux
1) 1885 Classification (Including 60 leading properties from the Medoc and one from the Grave ranked in five tiers, referred to as crus or growths from first growth or premiers crus down to fifth growths or Cinquiemes crus)
2) The Graves Classification (16 classified Chateaux, all located in Pessac Leognon, for reds, whites or both, based on pricing , fame and quality as judged by tasting)
3) The Saint Emillion Classification (including Premier Grand Cru A, Premier Grand Cru B and Grand Cru Classe, revised at about 10-year interval, Chateaux are judged on Terroir, production methods, reputation, commercial considerations and blind tasting of at least 10 vintages)
4) The Crus Bourgeois du Medoc classifications (Including three tiers: Cru Bourgeois, Cru Bourgeois Superieur, Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel), Awarded to individual wines rather than to Chateaux as a mark of quality based on production methods and finished products. The classification will last for five years)
