The lenses are mounted into the frame by putting the flat edge on the lens and then cutting a fine groove into the edge of the lens the groove fits into a protruding cord attached to the top of the frame with nylon cord running around the lens to hold it in place
Nylon cord or Semi rimless
These frames generally combine a metal chassis with a plastic top rim and or plastic temples
Combination frame
These frames are designed to sit lower on the nose to allow the wearer to look over the top of them. they are primarily for reading although it is possible to have half eye frame for a near sighted person so that they look through the frame for distance vision and look under the frame to read these frames can be made of plastic or metal
Half eye frame
Generally the lenses are mounted by drilling holes in the lens and mounting the end pieces and the bridge to the lenses. mounting can be done with screws, plastic posts, cement or clamps. The lenses are the connection to the
Rimless or silhouette
This bridge is shaped like a saddle and sits with even pressure on each side and the crest of the nose
Saddle Bridge
It’s the same as the saddle bridge but has nose pads on the back of the frame they are also available quite recently as Asian fit with it built up more to lift the frame away from the cheeks for those with a narrow or flat bridge
Modified Saddlebridge
Shaped like an old fashion keyhole and rests only on the side of the nose
Keyhole bridge
Has adjustable pads that are attached to the frame by metal pad arms
Pad Bridge
The plastic bridge bridge and that is attached to the metal frame
Comfort bridge
This bridge style rests on the crest of the bridge
Metal saddle bridge
This end piece the temple meets the front at a 90° angle
Butt End Piece
the front of the frame bends around 90 degrees and meets the temple end
Turn back end piece
the front and the temple meet at a 45 degree angle
Mitre Endpiece
