Fracking is the process of drilling into the earth to extract gas and oil by injecting a water mixture into the rock.

What is the fracking process?
A
- Firstly they drill into the earth
- They then inject a water, chemical and sand mixture at a high pressure
- Gas and oil flow out and they collect it

Why is fracking controversial?
A
Fracking is protested as when they insect a mixture into the rock to remove oils and gases it could possibly contaminate the water surrounding the site. It also uses a large amount of water and causes small earth tremors.

A
The qualities of good citizens include:
They lend a hand, offer up their time, take part in democratic processes (voting etc), help in times of need and care for the environment.
