A

An authoritative guide to action - overriding self-interest, personal preference, and custom.

A prescriptive code of conduct- defining how people ought to conduct themselves.

A universal morality - applying equally to all people in relevantly similar situations.

What is cultural or descriptive relativism?

A

The view that since each society has different ethical standards none is justified in claiming that it’s own brand of morality is correct.

What is conventionalism or normative ethical relativism?

A

The view that one ought to do what one’s own society or dominant group determines to be right.

What is individual ethical relativism or ethical subjectivism?

A

The view that individual preferences offer the only guidelines to behavior. What is right for one person isn’t necessarily right for another person regardless of their culture. (Some issues are personal decisions)
