Old Man

The prince encountered a person suffering from illness. This sight made him aware of the universal reality of physical suffering and the impermanence of good health.

Dead man
Siddhartha saw a corpse, which led him to confront the concept of mortality and the certainty of death. This sight stirred contemplation on the nature of life’s impermanence.

Lastly, Siddhartha encountered a wandering ascetic who had renounced worldly pleasures in pursuit of spiritual understanding. This sight inspired him to consider a life of renunciation and the search for a deeper, lasting happiness beyond the material world.
