Q

What is the role of glucose in cellular
respiration? Pyruvate? Acetyl CoA? NADH? FADH2? oxygen? carbon dioxide? water?

A

glucose is the primary energy source and it is broken down into pyruvate through glycolysis

pyruvate is the end of glycolysis and it enters the mitochondria to be converted into Ace-COA

Ace-COA enters the Krebs cycle to generate electron carriers (NADH/FADH2)

oxygen becomes the final electron acceptor and combines with hydrogen ions/electrons to form water.

carbon dioxide is released as a waste product
