Social Contract
Give up unlimited freedom for cooperative social benefit. When a group of people agree to give up certain rights and accept a central authority in order to protect their rights.
Popular Sovereignty
leaders of a state and its government are created and sustained by the consent of its people. The government’s authority is its people.
Natural Rights
Life, Liberty, Property, Pursuit of Happiness. Rights that are God given and can never be taken away
Republicanism
we elect officials to represent us in government. Rule by consent of the governed.
Factions
As described in Federalist Paper #10 by James Madison, Small organized dissenting groups within a larger group. Goal is to let them breath, protect their freedom to exist, but dont let them become the majority.
Limited Government
The government has only those powers stated in the constitution and granted by its people.
