Q

FOUR (4) STAGES

Wind-Heat Syndrome of Wei Stage

A

Wind-Heat invading Exterior, Obstructing Wei Qi
OBVIOUS FEVER, SL AVERSION TO WIND-COLD, Sl Thirst, None or Sl Sweating, HA, Sore Throat, Cough, THIN WT COATING, RED TONGUE TIP & BORDERS, SUPERFICIAL RAPID PULSE

17
Q

FOUR (4) STAGES

Wind-Heat Manifestations

A

Heat fights against Wei Qi in Exterior.
Wei Qi fails to disperse l/t Severe Fever.
Wei Yang is obstructed failing to warm skin & muscle l/t to aversion to wind-cold.
Yang Xie consumes fluid l/t slight thirst.
Wei Qi is obstructed causing dysfunction of pores in opening & closing l/t none or slight sweating.
Disturbs clear orifices l/t to HA.

18
Q

FOUR (4) STAGES

Wind-Heat Syndrome

Analysis of Clinical Manifestations

A

First goes to LU. Heat excess impairs fluid l/t sore throat. Invades LU causing dysfunction of LU qi and ability to disperse l/t cough. Can quickly move into flu, pneumonia.
T: Red tip & borders, Thin Wt Coat, P: Superficial, Rapid

19
Q

FOUR (4) STAGES

Wind-Heat Treatment

A

Principle: Resolve the Exterior, Clear Heat from LU
Tx Pts: LU, LI, DU & BL
Tx Herbs: Yin Qiao San

20
Q

FOUR (4) STAGES

Summer-Heat Syndrome of Wei Stage

Clinical Manifestations

A

Often accompanied with damp or cold damp.
M: SUMMER ONLY, FEVER, AVERSION TO COLD, dizziness, sweating or no sweating, cough or fullness of the chest, irritability or thirst, vomiting
T: Red, THIN or GREASY COAT, P: SUPERFICIAL, RAPID

21
Q

FOUR (4) STAGES

Summer-Heat Syndrome of Wei Stage

Clinical Manifestations Analysis

A

Wei Qi fights with Summer Heat causing Fever.
Obstruction of Wei Yang causes failure of Wei Qi in Warming & Nourishing Skin & Muscle l/t Aversion to Cold.
Fever is more severe than the aversion to cold.
Associated w/Cold-Damp = aversion to cold > fever.
SH Dampness creates upward moving steam l/t dizziness. If SH steams, there will be sweating. If obstruction of cold-damp, there will be no sweating. SH invades LU causing LU qi failure to disperse l/t cough. SH excess l/t irritability. Easily impaired fluid l/t thirst. SH dampness accumulates causing accumulation of ST qi upward perversion/t vomiting. Stag of chest yang l/t fullness in chest. SH impairs the exterior l/t to red tongue, thin coat, superficial rapid pulse. If associated with dampness, there will be a thick, greasy coat on tongue.

22
Q

FOUR (4) STAGES

Summer-Heat Syndrome of Wei Stage

Treatment

A

Clear the Summer-Heat and Transform the Dampness.
