Define SUPPORT WORKER.
The worker who provides personal care and support services to people, both in facilities and in the community.
Define EMPATHY.
The ability to recognize, perceive, and have an understanding of another person’s emotions by seeing things from his/her viewpoint.
Define SOCIAL SUPPORT.
Equipping a person with the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully live independently outside an institution.

Describe HOLISM.
Holism is a concept that considers the whole person; physical, emotional, spiritual, cognitive health
Describe the role of the HCA
Assist clients to accomplish tasks of every day living.
* ultimate goal is to improve the clients quality of life
Define ADLs (activities of daily living)
Self-care activities people perform daily to remain independent and to function in society
Define CARING
Concern for clients and their families dignity, independence, preferences, privacy and safety at all times.
HCA responsibilities: PERSONAL CARE
- Assisting with ADL: eating, bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, moving & positioning, ambulating.
- Provide for the clients safety and physical comfort
