Formulas Flashcards
Slope of a Line =
y = mx+b
Point Slope form :
y-y1 = m(x-x1)
Equation of a Circle :
(x-h)2+(y-k)2= r2
Value of C when completing the Square :
(-b/2a)**2
The Distance Formula :
½((x-x1)2+(y-y1)2)
The Midpoint Formula:
(X1+X2)/2, (y1+y2)/2
To find x-intercepts :
Set y=0
To find y intercepts
Set x=0
To test for symmetry about the x axis :
replace y with -y and simplify, if the resulting equation is equal to the original, it is symmetric.
To test for symmetry about the y axis
Replace x with -x and simplify, if the resulting equation is equivalent to the original, it is symmetric.
To test for symmetry about the origin :
Replace x,y with -x,-y, if the resulting equation is equivalent to the original, it is symmetric to the origin
A function is odd when:
After multiplying by -1, all of the signs of the equation swap
A function is even when:
After multiplying the equation by -1, the same equation results.
The Average rate of Change :
The slope of two points on a curve.
The General form of a Circle :
x2+ y2 + ax +by + c = 0
