Q

Pressure Altitude formula

A

Pressure altitude = (29.92 - Current Altimeter Setting) × 1,000 + Elevation

Elevation:
- Do not add if already at sea level
- Question will ask for PA at either Airport elevation or Cruise Altitude

Q

OAT Formula

A

OAT = Airport Temperature - ((Cruise Altitude - Airport Elevation) ÷ 1,000 × 2°C)

Where:
- Airport Temperature = The temperature at the airport (in °C).
- Cruise Altitude = The altitude of the aircraft during flight (in feet).
- Airport Elevation = The elevation of the airport above sea level (in feet).
- 2°C = The standard lapse rate for temperature decrease per 1,000 feet.

Q

ISA formula

A

ISA Temperature = 15°C - (Altitude ÷ 1,000 × 2°C)

Where:
- 15°C = Standard temperature at sea level.
- Altitude = The altitude of the aircraft (in feet).
- 2°C = The standard lapse rate for temperature decrease per 1,000 feet.

Q

Lift Factor formula

A

Original Speed / New Speed = V (Airspeed)
Lift Factor = V(squared)

Lift is proportional to the square of the airspeed (Vsquared)
