Superego - designed to tell us what is right and what is wrong
Id- Pleasure orientated and instinctive drive
Ego - Rationality, balances the conflict in the id and superego

Define social control
Where people within a society do as they are instructed and do not cause any problems. Society achieves this through external and internal forms of social control
Give an example of social control
It can be a problem If a bus driver takes a different route than the one that was given to him to drop passengers off at their destination
Name the two control theories
Attachment and Commitment
Define the attachment theory
The more attached we are to others, the more their opinion of us matters, therefore we are more likely to respect their norms and values and the less likely we are to break them
Define the commitment theory
The more we are committed to a conventional lifestyle, the more we risk losing by getting into a criminal lifestyle, therefore we are more likely to conform
