Forming Sedimentary rocks

1. A river transports pieces of broken rock
2. When the river reaches the sea it deposits the rocks
   3.The deposited rocks build up layers called sediment. this is sedimentation.
3. sometimes dead plants and animals fall and get covered which form fossils
4. If a lot of plant material is buried at once, it may turn into coal. When tiny sea plants and animals
   get buried they sometimes turn into oil or natural gas. These are all fossil fuels.
5. The weight of the top sediments squash the sediments at the bottom. This is compaction
6. The water is squeezed out from between the pieces of rock and crystals of different salts form.
7. The crystals form glue that cements the pieces of rock together. This is cementation.
