Relied on pre fabricated glazing and iron structure components.
First use of a standard bolt thread size, consistent throughout the entire building.
Background.
Joseph Paxton was known prior to building the Crystal Palace for building greenhouses, famously the great stove 1836. Before this he was a landscaper at Chatsworth estates in England
1840s London glass tax taken away before the construction of the Crystal palace in 1845.
