A
- At times of high discharge the river has considerable amounts of energy which it uses to trasnport material through suspension

A
- The river overflows its banks which will spread out over the surrounding area which is flat
- Sudden increase in friction then reduces the velocity of the river causing it to deposit its flood

- The river widens its valley through lateral erosion
