what is an esker
A
Eskers are meandering ridges formed by meltwater streams in or under a glacier

what are they made of
A
they are made of meltwater, sands and gravels which are sorted with largest at the base as these are dropped off first by the flowing water

the stones also tend to be round as the flowing water rounds them by erosion

as the glacier melts, sub-glacial streams flow through tunnels and the load is deposited on the channel bed
