Stereotype
Generalization about a person’s characteristics based solely on their group membership
Cognitive bias
A pattern of thinking that makes errors and is not fully rational
Illusory correlation
The perception of a relationship between group and behavior where there was none
Confirmation bias
Actively seeking out or being more likely to notice information/events consistent with preconceived ideas
Self fulfilling prophecy
The potential for a false stereotype to become more accurate due to expectations
Prejudice
Negative emotional attitude help towards members of a specific social group based on the fact they’re in that group
Discrimination
Negative actions directed towards those that belong to a certain group
Stereotype threat
Occurs when one is in a situation where there is a risk of being judge stereotypically or fear of doing something that would confirm the stereotype
Spotlight anxiety
Emotional distress and pressure that comes from being observed, performing to audience
