Basic formula for formal commands
Turn a verb into its “yo” form and switch out the “-o” for “-a/an” or “-e/en”
What do you change for verbs ending in “-car”?
Change the “c” in the word to “qu”
For example, “Buscar” in yo form is “Busco”, but you change it into “Busque” or “Busquen” for the formal command
How would you turn verbs ending in “-gar” into a formal command?
Turn the “g” in the word into “gu”
For example, the yo form of Pagar is “Pago”, but the formal command will turn into “pague” or “paguen”
What is the formal go and of “Ir” (to go)?
Vaya (Usted) Vayan (Ustedes)
What is the formal command for “Dar” (to give)?
Dé (Usted) Den (Ustedes)
What is the formal command for “Estar” (to be)?
Esté (Usted) Estén (Ustedes)
What is the formal command for “Saber” (to know)?
Sepa (Usted) Sepan (Ustedes)
How would you say “You all write three sentences?”
Ustedes escriban tres oraciones
How would you say “Put the book there”?

How do you write the formal command for verbs ending in “-zar”?
Convert it into its yo form and change the Z into C
