Epitome
In drama, the epitome of a character means they are the best or clearest example/embodiment of a specific trait or idea.
Antagonist
In drama, the antagonist is the character (or force) that opposes the main character, called the protagonist.
Protagonist
In drama, the protagonist is the main character of the story. They are the one the story focuses on, and we usually follow their journey, struggles, and growth.
Anti-Hero
In drama, an anti-hero is a main character who doesn’t have the usual traits of a hero, like bravery or kindness. Instead, they might be selfish, flawed, or even do bad things, but the audience still roots for them.
Proxemics
In drama, proxemics is about the use of space between characters and objects on stage. It shows how close or far apart characters are from each other, which can help express relationships, emotions, or power dynamics.
Gesture
In drama, a gesture is a movement a character makes with their body, especially their hands, arms, or face, to express a feeling, idea, or meaning.
Mannerism
In drama, a mannerism is a small, repeated action or habit that a character does. It’s part of their personality and helps make them unique or memorable.
Motivation

In drama, subtext is the hidden or unspoken meaning behind a character’s words or actions. It’s what a character really thinks or feels, even if they don’t say it directly.
Voice
In drama, voice refers to how a character speaks, including their tone, pitch, volume, accent, and rhythm. A character’s voice helps show their emotions, personality, and intentions.
Nemesis
In drama, a nemesis is a character or force that acts as a major opponent or enemy to the protagonist. This character or force is often seen as the one who will bring about the protagonist’s downfall or challenge them in a way that forces growth or change.
