when do you use imperfect tense
to talk about things you used to do in the past or that you were doing but have stopped
how is it different to preterite tense
preterite is used to talk about things that happened only once or that were in a defined period of time eg in the holidays
imperfect is used for incomplete actions or that you did a lot or over time eg when i was young i used to drnik lots of coke
