Lake/Enclosure
Spur
Bridge/Crossover
Dot/Island
Independent Ridge

17
Q

How do you dust prints?

A
  1. Gently spin brush to separate the bristles
  2. Lightly dab bristles into powder
  3. Twirl brush to remove excess powder
  4. Twirl brush between index finger and thumb while lightly brushing the bristles across the surface
  5. If ridge detail appears, continue to twirl the brush in the direction of the ridge flow until you develop completely
18
Q

Why do dusting and lifting prints work?

A

Because the dust sticks to the non-oil porous

19
Q

What won’t latent prints tell you?

A

How old a latent print is, the age of the person, gender, ethnicity, etc.

20
Q

What are deltas?

A

Triangular region where ridges diverge

21
Q

How many deltas are in Loop prints?

A

1

22
Q

How many deltas are in Plain Whorl prints?

A

2

23
Q

How many deltas are in Plain Arch prints?

A

0

24
Q

How many deltas are in Double Loop Whorl prints?

A

2

25
Q

What makes a fingerprint individualizing?

A

The pattern of the print along with the location of the minutia

26
Q

Why do we have friction ridges?

A

They help us hold things.
Help protect our skin.

27
Q

What is AFIS?

A

Automated Fingerprint Identification System
