Signature Behaviour
Acts committed by the offender that aren’t necessary to complete the crime
Criminal Profiling
A technique to assist in the identification and apprehension of a suspect
Offender’s Signature
A “calling card”, a pattern of distinct behaviour that reflect characteristics of the offender
Diminished Responsibility
Defence where defendant admits they broke the law, but should not be held criminally responsible. Mental Functions were impaired at the time
Violence Distraction
The relationship between the amount of violence and in a crime and accuracy of eyewitness’ memory
Trace-Dependent Forgetting
Memory is forgotten with the passing of time
Cue- Dependent Forgetting
Information is forgotten because they didn’t use the right cues to remember the information
