- 1520, Field of Cloth of Gold
- 1522, Treaty of Windsor, however Charles betrayed Henry twice

- Treaty of Cambrai renewed in 1529, England isolated again
- Form Schmalkaldic League 1531, looking for Protestant Allies. Cromwell made overtures to the League in 1531 but nothing agreed about poss. alliance against Habsburgs and France.

- 1542, Scots defeated at Solway Moss and James V killed but Henry failed to counter
- 1546, Peace with France as neither side could afford conflict
