Foreign Policy Flashcards
When and what was the Locarno Pact?
The Locarno Pact was signed on 1 December 1925. Germany, France and Belgium promised to respect the western frontier as drawn up in Versailles, and Germany agreed to keep its troops out of the Rhineland. Britain and Italy vowed to aid Germany, France or Belgium should any of these countries be attacked by its neighbours. Germany agreed with France, Belgium, Poland and Czechoslovakia that any dispute between them should be settled by a conciliation committee to mediate discussions. France signed treaties of mutual guarantee with Poland and Czechoslovakia to ensure Germany would not break the above agreement. Any conflicts regarding western borders were to be referred to the League of Nations.
