Forearms Flashcards
Brachioradialis- distal attachment
Lateral surface of distal end of radius proximal of styled process
Brachioradialis- origin
Proximal two thirds of lateral supraepicondylar ridge of humerus
Brachioradialis innervation
Radial nerve C-5 C6 C7
Brachioradialis action
Relatively weak flexion of elbow joint, maximal when forearm is in mid pronated position
Extensor carpi radialis longus proximal attachment
Lateral Supra-epicondylar ridge of humerus
Extensor carpi radialis longus distal attachment
Dorsal aspect of base of second metacarpal
Extensor carpi radialis longus-innervation
Radial nerve C6 and C7
Extensor carpi radialis longus action
Extend and ABducts; extensor carpi radialis brevis active during fist clenching
Extensor carpi radialis brevis proximal attachment
Lateral epicondyles of humerus
Extensor carpi radialis brevis distal attachment
Dorsal aspect of base of the third metacarpal
Extensor carpi radialis brevis innervation
Dorsal branch of radial nerve (C7 C8)
Extensor carpi radialis brevis action
Extend and aBducts wrist joint; extensor carpi radialis brevis active during fist clenching
Extensor digitorum proximal attachment
Lateral epicondyle of humerus
Extensor digitorum distal attachment
Extensor expansions of medial four fingers
Extensor digitorum action
Extend wrist joint, extend medial four fingers primarily metacarpophalangeal joints, secondarily at interphalangeal joints
Extensor digiti minimi- proximal attachment
Lateral epicondyles of humerus
Extensor digiti minimi distal attachment
Extensor expansion of fifth finger
Extensor digiti minimi innervation
Posterior interosseous nerve (c7, c8), continuation of deep branch of radial nerve
Extensor digiti minimi action
Extends wrist joint, extends fifth finger primarily at metacarpophalangeal joint, secondarily at interphalangeal joint
Extensor carpi ulnaris proximal attachment
Lateral epicondyles of humerus; posterior border of ulna via A shared aponeurosis
Extensor carpi ulnaris distal attachment
Dorsal aspect of base of the fifth metacarpal
Extensor carpi ulnaris action
Extends and ADDucts wrist joint (also active during fist clenching)
Supinator proximal attachment
Lateral epicondyles of humerus, radial collateral and anular ligaments, supinator fossa, crest of ulna
Supinator distal attachment
Lateral, posterior, and anterior surfaces of proximal third of radius
Supinator innervation
Deep branch of radial nerve C7 c8
Supinator action
Supinates forearm; rotates radius to turn palm anteriorly or superiorly (if elbow is flexed)
Abductor pollicis longus-proximal attachment
Posterior surface of proximal halves of ulna, radius, and interosseous membrane
Abducts pollicis longus- distal attachment
Base of 1st metacarpal
Abducts pollicis longus- innervation
Posterior interosseous nerve ( c7, c8), continuation of deep branch of radial nerve
