Forearm Flashcards
How many muscles are present in front of forearm ?
8 (5 superficial and 3 deep)
How many nerves in front part of forearm ?
2 ( Radial and Ulnar artery)
How many nerves in front part of forearm?
3( median, radial and ulnar nerve)
What is called common flexor origin ?
Medial epicondyl of humerus
Which are the superficial muscles of front of the forearm?
Lateral to medial side (PFPFF)
1. Pronator teres
2.Flexor carpi radialis
3.Palmaris Longus
4.Flexor digitorum superficialis
5.Flexor carpi ulnaris
Smallest superficial flexor muscle of forearm ?
Pronator teres
Origin of pronator muscle
Superficial (humeral) head - medial epicondyl of humerus
Deep(ulnar) head -medial margin of the coronoid process of ulna
Insertion of pronator teres muscle?
Middle one-third of the lateral surface of radius.
Nerve supply of pronator teres?
Median nerve
Action of pronator teres?
Flexion of elbow
Course of medial nerve
Passes between two heads of pronator teres.
Course of ulnar artery
Passes deep to the deep head of pronator teres, thus ulnar artery is seperated from median nerve by the deep head of the pronator teres in the region of cubital fossa.
Origin of Flexor carpi radialis
Medial condyle of the humerus
Insertion of FCR
Anterior aspect of bases of 2nd and 3rd metacarpals
Nerve supply of FCR
Median nerve
