Forces and Speed Flashcards
What is the formula for speed?
Speed = Distance/Time
What is the formula for distance?
Distance = Speed x Time
What is the formula for time?
Time = Speed x Distance
What is thrust?
A force created by an engine
What is the force pushing upwards on an object in a liquid called?
Upthrust
What is the force pushing upwards on an object flying in the air called?
Lift
What is air resistance/drag?
The force acting against any object moving through the earth’s atmosphere
What is weight?
A force that pulls objects towards the earth’s surface
How do you convert grams to newtons?
You divide the grams by 100
What happens when the forces on an object is balenced?
The object is either stationary or moving at a constant speed
Are the forces balanced or unbalanced when an object is speeding up or slowing down?
Unbalenced
How do you work out something’s weight on earth with it’s mass?
You multiply it’s mass by 10
What does IV stand for and what is it?
An independent variable (IV) is what we change
What do we do with a dependent variable?
We measure the DV (dependent variable)
What does CV stand for and what does it do?
A CV is a control variable and it is a variable that does not change
