Forces and Speed Flashcards
What is Air Resistance?
A type of friction that happens when an object is moving through the air.
What is a force?
Anything that starts, maintains or decreases motion.
What are Balanced Forces?
Balanced forces are two opposing forces happening on one object that have equaled out so the object is no longer moving or it is traveling at a constant rate.
What is Friction?
A force that decreases speed as it opposes motion upon contact.
What is Gravity?
A force that act between all (in pairs) masses.
What is a Kilogram (Kg)?
The measurement used when calculating Mass.
What is Lubrication?
Application of a lubricant to create less friction between two surfaces.
What is Mass (Kg)?
The amount of matter (stuff) something is made up of.
What is a Newton (N)?
The unit of force in which you measure Weight.
What is a Newton Meter?
A piece of equipment used to measure somethings weight (N).
What are two opposing forces (P&P)? ex.
Push and Pull.
What is a Resistive Force?
Any force that acts to slow down a moving object (friction).
How do you make something Streamlined?
Rounded Front, Slowly Tapering Body and Smooth Surface.
What are Unbalanced Forces?
edmnp[’?=-09iuy Two opposing forces acting on an object that are unbalanced, so it in increasing or decreasing in speed.
What is Weight (N)?
The force of the Earth on an object due to its Mass.
