Forces Flashcards
A push or a pull one body exerts on another.
Force
an object moving at a constant velocity keeps moving at that velocity, an object at rest stays at rest unless acted upon by a net force.
Newtons 1st Law
the tendency of an object to resist any change in motion.
Inertia
combination of all forces that act on an object.
Net Force
Every object exerts a force on every other force. This force is felt as a pull.
Gravity
the amount of matter or stuff an object has.
Mass
measure of force of gravity on an objects mass how hard object is pulled toward center of Earth.
Weight
Force= Mass x Acceleration
Newtons 2nd Law
Is a force that opposes motion between 2 surfaces that are touching each other.
Friction
Friction that resists an getting an object moving. (This is when objects are not moving.)
Static Friction
Friction that resists keeping an object moving. (Happens when it is moving.)
Kinetic Friction
to every action there is an equal ( in size) and opposite (in direction) reaction force)
Newtons 3rd Law
mass on the move. The force required to stop a moving object.
Momentum
anything that is thrown or shot in the air.
Projectile
Force acting toward the center of a curved or circular path.
Centripetal Force
