Forces Flashcards
What is a Force?
A push or a pull one body exerts on another.
What is Inertia?
The Tendency of an object to resistant any change in motion.
What is Newton’s first Law?
An object moving keeps moving at a constant velocity keeps moving at the velocity, an object at rest stays at rest unless acted upon by net force.
What is Net Force?
A combination of all forces that act on an object.
What is Gravity?
A force that is felt as a pull.
What is Mass?
The amount of matter or “stuff” an object has.
What is Weight?
It is the measure of force of gravity on an object’s mass; how hard the object is pulled toward center of earth.
What is Friction?
It is a force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are touching each other.
What are the two kinds of friction?
Static and kinetic friction.
To every action there is an equal (in size) and opposite (in direction) reaction force. This is what?
Newton’s 3rd Law
What is momentum?
The force required to stop a moving object.
what is Projectile?
Anything that’s thrown or shot through air.
What is Centripetal Force?
A force acting toward the center of a curved or circular path.
F = m x a
