Forces Flashcards
Force
A push or a pull one body exerts one another.
Newtons 1st law
An object moving at a constant velocity stays moving at that velocity. An object at rest stays at rest unless acted upon by a force.
Inertia
The tendency of an object to resist any change in motion.
Gravity
Every Objects exerts
Mass
Amount of matter or “stuff” an object has. Measured in kilograms.
Weight
The measure of gravity on your mass; how hard an object is pulled toward the center of the earth.
Newton’s 2nd Law
The net force acting on an object causes the object to accelerate in relation to the size and the force of the object.
Friction
Is a force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are touching each other.
Static Friction
Friction that resists getting an object moving(this is when objects are not moving.
Kinetic Friction
Friction-sliding friction,-rolling friction, friction that resists keeping an object moving(happens while it is moving).
Motion
“to every action there is an equal in (size) and opposite (in direction) reaction force.
Projectile
Anything that is thrown or shot in the air.
Centripetal Force
Force toward the center of a curved or circular path.
Momentum
Mass on the move! The force required to stop a moving object.
Net Force
Combo of all forces that act on an object.
