Forces Flashcards
A push or pull one body exerts on another
Force
An object moving, keeps moving at that velocity, an object at rest stays at rest, unless acted upon by a net force
Newtons 1st law
The tendency of an object to resist any change in motion
Inertia
Combination of all forces that act on an object
Net Force
Every object exerts a force on every other object, this force is gravity, felt as a pull
Gravity
The amount of matter or stuff an object has, measured in kilograms
Mass
Measure of force of gravity on an objects mass; how hard an object is pulled toward the center of the earth
Weight
The net force of an object causes the object to accelerate in relation to the size of the force and the mass of an object
Newtons 2nd law
Is a force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are touching eachother
Friction
Resists getting an object moving (this is when objects are not moving)
Static friction
Resists keeping an object moving (happens while it moving)
Kinetic friction
To every action there is an equal (in size) and opposite (in direction)
Newtons 3rd law
Anything thats thrown or shot through the air
Projectile
Force acting towards the center of a carved or circular path
Centripetal
Mass on the move, force required to stop a moving object
Momentum
