Q

What are the advantages and disadvantages of friction?

A

Advantages:
- enables movement without slipping
- allows the application of brakes to stop a moving vehicle to prevent accidents

Disadvantages:
- causes wear and tear
- loss of useful energy to heart and sound energy
- produces a lot of heat

Q

What is a Maglev train?

A

Magnetic + levitation

Magnetic force of repulsion lifts the Maglev train slightly above the track, allowing it to levitate on air and travel along the track. This greatly reduces friction between the track and the train, allowing the train to travel at a higher speed.

Q

Mass vs Weight
(definition, type, SI unit, measuring tool, gravity, equation)

A

Mass:
- the amount of matter in an object
- not a force
- kg
- electronic balance
- independent

Weight:
- gravitational force acting on an object
- a type of force
- newton
- Extension spring balance
- dependent
