Q

List the 6 steps of the parallelogram Law-

A

1.Let 1N=1cm
2. Redraw diagram in cm,only use arrow
3.Draw diagonal line from starting point or origin
4.Using ruler measure the length of diagonal line in cm
5.Convert cm to N to obtain the magnitude of resultant force
6.Use protractor to measure angle between the diagonal line and bottom horizontal line. This gives the direction of resultant force.
*When writing answer(Resultant force= 70N at 56 degrees from the horizontal) Round N to the nearest number

What are the two types of moment?

A

Clockwise and anti-clockwise moments

18
Q

what are the 2 rules for moments of a force

A

Condition of Equilibrium
1. sum of CW moments= sum of ACW moments
2.sum of upward forces is equal to the sum of downward forces

19
Q

What is hookes law?

A

Force that is directly proportional to the extension produced

20
Q

What is the breaking point defined in hookes law?

A

Breaking point is where the elastic is at its limit and no longer obeys hookes law

21
Q

Formula for hookes law and what does it mean?

A

F=Ke
Force is equivalent to spring constant multipled by extension
