Forces Flashcards
What is Thinking Distance?
Thinking Distance is the distance you travel between the problem and hitting the brakes
What is Braking Distance?
Braking distance is the distance you travel whilst the brakes are being applied
What is Stopping Distance?
Stopping Distance = Thinking Distance + Braking Distance
What things that affect Thinking Distance?
Alcohol, Speed, Tiredness, and Distractions
What things affect Braking Distance?
Speed, Road Condtions, Condition of Tires, and Conditions of Brakes
What is Newton’s First Law?
A body will remain at rest or continue to move at a constant velocity unless acted upon by an external (resultant) force
What is Newton’s Second Law?
The acceleration of an object is proportional to the resultant force and inversely proportional to its mass
What is Newton’s Third Law ?
in an interaction between two bodies, A and B, the force exerted by body A on body B is equal and opposite to the force exerted by body B onto body A
