With a Newton meter
What are forces?
You can’t see forces and they can be a push or a pull.
What is the name of forces coming in pairs?
Interaction pairs- forces exist when objects interact.
What effect can forces have
The can deform things, change their speed or direction.
When do contact forces occur?
When objects touch
What are three contact forces
Friction, air resistance, water resistance
How can friction be reduced
Lubrication
What are non contact forces?
Forces that occur without objects touching
What are three non contact forces
Gravitational, magnetic, electrostatic
What is Hooke’s law?
When you double the force the extension doubles
What is mass?
The amount of matter something is made of, measured in Kg, stays the same anywhere unless the object is changed.
What is weight?
The amount of force something is feeling, measured in N, different in different parts of the universe
What is the equation for weight
Weight (N)= mass (Kg) x g (N/Kg)
When are forces balanced
When the forces acting in the thing are equal
What happens when forces are not balanced
The object will speed up, slow down, or change direction
