Forces Flashcards
What is the Formula for Acceleration?
Final Velocity - Initial Velocity / Time
What is the difference between Scalar and Vector Quantities?
Vector Quantities have Direction and Magnitude, while Scalar Quantities only have Magnitude
What is Speed ?
Rate of Change in Distance. ( Distance/Time )
What is Velocity?
Distance/ Displacement
When does Air Resistance become 0?
In a Vacuum
What is Free Falling?
When an Object falls in the absence of Air Resistance, causing it to accelerate at 10 m/s
What does a Net Force of 0 mean?
It means that the forces are balanced, and the object moves at a steady speed.
What is Terminal Velocity?
Terminal Velocity is the maximum speed an object reaches, when the weight of the object equates the air resistance.
What is Net Force ?
Force in Direction of Motion - Force in Opposite Direction
What Happens when an Object is Dropped from a Height?
There is Almost Freefall due to Minimal Air Resistance during initial Fall Moment. Then, as speed increases, Air Resistance Increases.
What is Momentum?
p = mv
What is the Principal of Conservation of Momentum?
Total Momentum before and after is same
What is an Impulsive Force ?
F=mv-mu/t
Rate of Change of Acceleration
Where is the Centre of Mass?
The Centre of Mass is in the middle, as long as the weight is every distributed and the object is made of the same material
What Factors impact Stability ?
Height of Object ( Lower=More Stable ) Base Area ( Bigger=More Stable )
