Force, Laws, And Gravity Test Flashcards
What is Newton’s first law of motion say?
The motion of an object does not change as long as the net force acting on the object is zero
What is inertia?
Tendency of an object to resist change in its motion
What is Newton’s third law of motion?
Whenever one object exerts a force on a second object, the second object exerts an equal and opposite force on the first object
What is Newton’s second law of motion?
Acceleration of an object is equal to the net force acting on it divided be the objects mass
What is momentum?
Momentum = mass x velocity
An object has a large momentum if the product of its mass and velocity is large
What is force?
A lush or pull force
Can cause a resting object to move, or it can accelerate a moving object by changing its speed or direction
What is the unit of force?
Newton
How do you represent force?
Use an arrow to represent the direction and strength of a force
- the direction of the arrow represents that direction of the force
- the length of the arrow represents the strength of the force
What is net force?
Overall force acting in an object after all forces are combined
What are balanced forces?
When the forces of an object are balanced, the net force is zero and there is no change in the objects motion.
What happens when a force is unbalanced
When an unbalanced force acts on an object, the object accelerates
What is friction?
All loving objects are subject to friction
Force that opposed the motion of objects
What are be four types of friction?
Static
Sliding
Rolling
Fluid
What is gravity?
Attractive force hat pulls an object together.
Gravity causes objects to accelerate downward , whereas air resistance acts in the direction opposite to the motion and reduces acceleration
