A

A device that converts motion (kinetic energy) into electrical energy. A generator contains a coil of wire that rotates within a magnetic field, producing an electric current in the wire.

A

A coil of wire that acts as a magnet when an electrical current passes through it.

TRANSFORMER

A

A device used to change the voltage of an alternating current in one circuit (the primary circuit) to a voltage in a second circuit (the secondary circuit). A transformer consists of a frame of an easily magnetized material with two coils of wire around it. Each coil is connected to one of the two circuits.
