Force And Acceleration Flashcards
Explain the force of friction
The drag force opposing the push force.
What is Newton’s first law of motion?
Objects either stay at rest or move with constant velocity unless acted on by an unbalanced force.
Describe the practical used to investigate the relationship between motion and force
Use a dynamics trolley and a motion sensor connected to a computer. The trolley should be pulled along a slopping runway using one or more elastic bands stretched to the same length. To test that the slope is at an accurate angle where we can compensate for friction, the trolley should be rolled down at a constant speed.
What should the result for the investigation of force and motion be?
The velocity-time graph shows an increases at a constant rate.
State Newton’s second law.
For constant mass
the resultant force, F ( in Newtons) is proportional to the mass, m ( in kg) multiplied by acceleration, a (in ms^-2)
