Force Acting On A Propeller Flashcards
1
Q
What are the five forces acting on a propeller?
A
Centrifugal, Aerodynamic twisting, Thrust bending, Torque bending, and Centrifugal twisting
2
Q
What is centrifugal force?
A
Centrifugal force puts the greatest stress on a propeller as it tries to pull the blades out of the hub.
3
Q
What is thrust bending force?
A
caused by the aerodynamic lift produced by the air-foil shape of the blade as it moves through the air. It tries to bend the blade forward and the force is at its greatest near the tip.
