DDX to consider based on time frame vrs Schizo-PHREN-ia
brief psychotic disorder @ < 1 month, usually stress associated
schizophreniform disorder @ 1-6 months
schizoaffective disorder @ at least 2 weeks of stable mood with psychotic symptosm + major depressive, manic or mixed episodes (can be two types - bipolar or depressive)
DDX for Major Depressive Disorder
Persistent Depressive Disorder/Dysthymia: depression, often milder lasting AT LEAST TWO YEARS
and
Seasonal Affective Disorder: symptoms are usually associated with winter season and improve in response to full spectrum bright light exposure
NEW from FA: Atypical Depression
cxzd by mood reactivity ie being abel to improve mood in response to positive events, breifly + reversed vegetative symptoms (hypersomnia and weight gain) + leaden paralysis + long standing interpersonal rejection sensitivity
