What are Micorrihizal Fungi?
Naturally occurring fungi that have a symbiotic
relationship with roots. They assist in the gathering of
water and minerals in exchange for plant cells dumped by plant roots that they use for food.
What are endophytes and why are they beneficial to turfgrass?
They are a naturally occuring fungi in the grass seed that release a toxin that repel surface feeding insects. (above ground only)
What is Rhizobium?
A bacteria that colonizes in the roots of certain plants and forms nodules on roots that can fix notrogen from the atmosphere and make it available to plants
That are bulliform cells and what do they do?
Cells only found in grass plants that act in closing?folding the leaf (wilting) in response to drought stress
