For Assessment 2 Flashcards
What is a face?
A surface on a 3D shape
What is an edge?
Where two faces meet on a 3D shape
What is a vertex / vertice?
A corner
What do we put on lines to show they are parallel?
Arrows
What does parallel mean?
Lines that will never meet
What does perpendicular mean?
Lines that meet at a right angle
What is a polygon?
A shape made up of straight sides
What is a regular polygon?
A shape with equal sides and angles
What is symmetry?
Where a shape is the same on both sides of the line of symmetry
What is rotational symmetry?
How many times a shape can fit into itself when rotated one full turn
What is an equilateral triangle?
All sides and angles the same
What is an isosceles triangle?
Two sides and angles the same
What is a scalene triangle?
All sides and angles different
What do angles in a triangle add to?
180 degrees
What do angles in a quadrilateral add to?
360 degrees
What do angles on a straight line add to?
180
What do you know about opposite angles?
They are equal
How do you work out the angle sum in a polygon?
You subtract 2 from the number of sides and multiply by 180
What does 2a mean?
2 x a
What does a / 2 mean?
a divided by 2
What is a + a + a?
3a
What is a x a x a?
a cubed
What would 3(x + 2) expand to?
3x + 6
When given a percentage what can you put it over as a fraction e.g. 71%?
Over 100 so 71 / 100
