Passes lateral to TA tendon and runs to base of 1st distal phalanx

Extension of big toe
Very important for propulsion in walking and running
Extensor digitorum Longus (origin)
Important for location of St41, 42, GB 41
Upper section of anterior fibula
Extensor digitorum Longus (insertion)
Important for location of St41, 42, GB 41
Passes lateral to EHL tendon to insert into the middle and distal phalanges of the 2nd to 5th toes

Important for location of St41, 42, GB 41
