Autotroph
the process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water. Photosynthesis in plants generally involves the green pigment chlorophyll and generates oxygen as a byproduct.
Photosynthesis

Chemosynthesis
an organism that cannot fix carbon from inorganic sources but uses organic carbon for growth.
Heterotroph

a linear network of links in a food web starting from producer organisms and ending at apex predator species, detritivores, or decomposer species

Carnivore
An animal that eats both meat and plants
Omnivore
an animal that feeds on dead organic material, especially plant detritus.
Detritivore
an organism, especially a soil bacterium, fungus, or invertebrate, that decomposes organic material
Decomposer
each of several hierarchical levels in an ecosystem, comprising organisms that share the same function in the food chain and the same nutritional relationship to the primary sources of energy.
Trophic level
