Explain Salmonella.
Found-
Found in under cooked meat and fish. Also can get by contact with infected.
Symptoms-
12-36 hours after eating, you have diarrhea,a fever, and vomiting for 2-7 days
Prevention-
Keep raw foods from cooked. Fully cook meat.
Explain Staphyloccus Aureus.
Found-
Found in boils,pimples, and throat infections. Gets in food by handling
Symptoms-
2-8 hours after eating, you have diarrhea and vomiting
Prevention-
Wash hands and utensils before use. Don’t leave food out for more the. 2 hours
Explain Clostridium Perfringens.
Found-
Found in food that is cooling slowly in large portions.
Symptoms-
8-24 hours after eating you will have diarrhea and gas pains, last less than a day.
Prevention-
Split food into smaller portions to cool or sit. Store over 140F or under 40F
Explain Campylobacter Jejuni.
Found-
In untreated water. Spread by family pets, or eating raw seafood.
Symptom-
2-5 days after drinking, you will have (bloody)diarrhea, cramping, a fever, and a headache for 2-7 days.
Prevention-
Drink only clean water. Cook seafood thoroughly.
Explain Clostridium Botulnium.
Found-
Found in home canned foods.Cracked,clear,milky, loose lidded, or dented cans or jars may be infected.
Symptoms-
12-48 hours after eating you will see doubles, have droopy eyelids, and have trouble breathing,speaking, or swallowing. May be fatal.
Prevention-
Call a doctor if you have symptoms. Inspect jars before opening.
