Tuberculosis (Mycobacterium bovis, avium, intracellulare, marinum)
Transmission: Ingestion, inhalation, inoculation.
CS (human): Granulomatous lesions, pulmonary disease (chronic pneumonia), urogenital disease, bone/joint disease, meningitis.
CS (animal): Granulomatous lesions.
Brucellosis (B. abortus, suis, ovis, canis, neotomae, melitensis)
Transmission: Direct contact with fetal fluids, ingestion of animal products, accidental injection.
CS (human): Septicemia (fever, chills, profuse sweating, depression, muscle weakness), may develop to CNS disease (encephalitis, meningitis), bone/joint disease (spondylitis, arthritis), vegetative endocarditis.
CS (animal): Abortion, infertility, weak or still-born offspring.
Yersinia enterocolitica
Transmission: Ingestion.
CS (human): GI disease (diarrhea, abdominal pain).
CS (animal): GI disease (V/D, anorexia, abdominal pain).
Salmonella (S. typhimurium)
Transmission: Fecal-oral, inhalation.
CS (human): self-limiting GI disease.
CS (animal): GI disease.
Campylobacter jejuni
Transmission: Direct contact with pets, ingestion of contaminated food.
CS (human): GI disease (gastroenteritis, bloody diarrhea, abdominal pain), recover in 7-10 days.
CS (animal): same as human.
